Most founders think they’re using the right strategies to grow their startup. You might be thinking that too. But the truth is - you're probably not.
And that tiny mistake is what keeps your startup stuck.

The startups that actually grow do things most founders haven’t even heard of. So, let me show you exactly ...
✅ what those strategies are
✅ how you can use them today
✅ where you should start first
Whether you’re just launching or have been running your startup for years, these strategies actually work - and they crush the usual advice you see everywhere else.
Let’s dive in.
1. Pain-score your users to find the high-value segment
The first growth strategy might already surprise you. Most founders think they know exactly who their target audience is.
But when they create features or when they write their website copy, they often go for the wrong people. They build for the folks who think their product is "interesting", not the ones who really need help right now.
And that sounds like a tiny difference - but it slows everything down.
And it can even kill your startup.
So here’s the trick. You don’t want to build your startup for the "interested" people. You want the "urgent" ones.
→ The ones who feel the problem every day.
→ The ones who want a fix now.
But how do you find them?
Well, you score them. Simple as that.
And you look at four things:
✅ How urgent their problem is
✅ How often it happens
✅ How much they would pay to fix it
✅ How big the outcome is if you help them
When you score your users like this, something really cool happens.
You suddenly have this small group who needs you way more than the rest.
This group is your high-value segment. These are the people you should build every feature for and write every message for.
And here’s the crazy part:
Usually the top 10 to 20 percent of your users create about 80 percent of your growth. So if you focus on them, your startup will grow way faster.
👉 So take a second and think about it - who are the people who really love your product? What do they look like? What are they struggling with? Focus on these people.

2. Give value before they commit
OK… this is a big one.
In the beginning, my analytics looked like this:
Many people visited my sales page - but only very few signed up.
And it was frustrating.
It took me quite a long time to understand this - there’s a big drop between "I’m curious" and "I’m in".
But there is a way to solve this, and it's actually pretty simple.
→ You give people value before they commit.
→ Something small that helps them right away.
→ Something that makes them think, "Oh wow… this already helps me and I haven’t even signed up yet".
This builds trust.
And it gives them a sense of progress before they even use your product.
So what could you use for your startup?
It could be a small check of their current situation, a simple result based on something they tell you or even a short tip that helps them right away.
👉 Whatever it is - make sure it's super valuable and that they can use it right away.
And here is the big advantage:
When you help someone before they join, you become the obvious choice. Because they trust you more. And once they do sign up, they’re way more active.
So always make sure you give free value to build trust and help people commit.
Now, once people sign up, growth strategy number three becomes super important.
3. Reduce time to first win to under 2 minutes
Did you know that most products lose users in the first few minutes?
Let me say that again ...
❌ not months
❌ not weeks
✅ in the first few minutes
Crazy, right?
But it's not because the product is bad.
It's because getting the first win just takes too long.
You sign up and suddenly you see a huge tutorial:
"Click here, click there, you can do this, you can do that…"
It’s just too much.
→ People don’t want a tour.
→ They don't want to see every feature.
They want a win. Fast.
So the goal is simple:
Find something that gives your user a little win in the first two minutes.
Just two minutes. That’s all you need. And here is the crazy part: That tiny win makes people stay longer and love your product.
But how do you do this?
Look at your customer flow right now - when someone signs up - and remove everything that is not necessary. Everything that slows people down - like extra questions, long setup forms, things they don’t need right away.
Remove everything until the first win is fast and simple.
So here’s my question for you:
👉 What’s the fastest win someone can get in your product? What’s one tiny thing that would make them smile in under 2 minutes?

4. Improve the one workflow that already works
Now this is something I see all the time. Founders jump from idea to idea. They add cool new features because they think more means better.
But here’s the truth:
If you really want to grow your startup ...
❌ stop adding more and more features.
✅ make the one thing perfect that people already love.
So find the one workflow in your product that people use the most - the one that gives them the "WOW" moment. The "This is exactly what I want"-moment.
And once you find that - make it even better. Make the flow faster, simpler, and easier to understand.
And here is a pro tip:
Ask your users what they do right before and right after that moment.
Like what other features they use, what their next steps are.
Make those steps smooth too.
And suddenly your whole product feels easier and more fun to use.
And when you improve your strongest path, your startup grows even faster because people love your product more and tell their friends and family.
5. Create a growth mailbox and fix one bottleneck per week
The next growth strategy I’m going to show you is super powerful because it makes your startup growth simple and predictable.
Here’s how it works:
You create a simple inbox.
This can be a document, a board, a notes app - anything.
And inside it, you write down every problem you find in your product.
→ Every confusing moment
→ User complaint
→ Step that breaks
→ Places where people leave
- anything.
And then you sort these problems into parts of the user journey:
1. Getting users
2. Activating them
3. Keeping them
4. Getting referrals
5. Making money
And here comes the magic:
Every week, you pick the single bottleneck that has the biggest impact on your startup’s growth – and you fix it.
Only that one.
❌ Not ten
❌ Not five
✅ One
You do this every week.
In 10 weeks, that’s 10 big improvements.
In 50 weeks, you’ve removed 50 things that slowed your startup’s growth.
And those fixes stack on top of each other. This is how small startups become strong companies. It’s not luck. It’s not guessing. And it's certainly not this one big event where everything clicks.
It’s fixing one important thing every single week.
✏️ So ask yourself - what’s one problem you could fix this week that would make things just a little easier for your users? Go fix that.
